A few Sundays ago, my husband and I decided to take Isaac over to Central Market. If you aren't familiar with it (we weren't until recently), it's a grocery store that is super duper fancy and also has a restaurant attached where they hold cooking classes.
After wandering through the maze of produce, fresh meat and seafood cases, fresh bulk food and all kinds of aisles of specialty items, we headed over to the cafe for lunch.
Ben had some kind of Asian chicken dish and I hada penne with veggies and alfredo sauce. Isaac ate Pirates Booty, apple sauce and dried strawberries (all packed from home). We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful January day in Texas. And it was gorgeous out!!
It was a fun trip, but I'm not sure I'll be going back any time soon. The prices were too high and you have to print all your own labels for the produce (I mean, what do they pay their cashiers for? I was a cashier for years and I had to memorize all the priduce codes!). I felt like if we were going to pay $2.99 for broccolli!!, I shouldn't have to print my own tags for it. They had a crazy huge selection of produce, however, and a lot of rare and specialty items. Their fresh meat and seafood case was crazy too. But, for everything else, including the bulk, I will continue to buy those items at Henry's. Just as fresh and much, much cheaper.
Our trip was a part of my Big 2012 Goals #2- get out of the house more often. I usually shop by myself, or just with Isaac. But we added a husband and a lunch and it became a fun family outing!
