authenticity, or something like it

Sometimes I feel like I'm not authentic enough. I mean, I never lie or make up stories on this blog, but I also leave out things I don't want others to know about me.

But isn't that true for all of us? The beauty about the blog world is that we present exactly what we want others to see. In some ways, that can be good (and safe) but in other ways, it may mean we see others for more of who they aren't rather than who they are.

Today I just wanted to tell you more about me: Jessi. The simple girl. The wife. The mom. The daughter. The sister. The Jesus-follower.

I listen to Jack Johnson all day, everyday. I was introduced to him by my 11th grade Biology teacher and haven't stopped listening since.

I met Jesus in the 8th grade. And I fall more in love with Him every day.

I am a cat lady. Have been since I got my first cat at age 5.

Growing up I wanted to be a teacher, a waitress, a forensic psyhologist, an FBI agent, a coroner, an author, a speaker and a mom. (Some of those still apply)

I am unappologetically and whole heartedly pro-life. I believe that every life is precious, and should be respected as such from conception until natural death.

My favorite city is Washington DC. I'm a sucker for American History and Cherry Blossoms.

One year I got a Tickle Me Elmo for Christmas. I was 12.

We want a lot of kids. Like 6, 7, 8 or 9. But I'm willing to take however many the Lord wants to bless us with.

I didn't read a single book in college. Cliffnotes are a wonderful invention.

I grew up in Las Vegas, and I survived.

My favorite Christmas song is "O Holy Night"

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.

My spiritual gifts are leadership and teaching. Public speaking scares me, but I love it.

Now it's your turn. Tell me something about you.

ps- I'm guesting posting over at The Arizona Russums today.

  2. I loved getting to know you more! I think it's fun to share random things to help reader's understand us better. =D

Hmm...something about me. I miss dancing in the rain, seriously. Everytime it rained (just rained) I ran outside to be in it. I've stopped doing that and I can't figure out why. I just know I miss it. There was something so freeing about dancing in the raining.

  3. Dear Daughter, I love you so very much. God has given me such an awesome gift through you!!! I guess I know you pretty well because none of the things on your list came as a surprise. (FYI - you were 4 when you got your first cat!)

  4. I wanted to be a wine waitress when I was little. I once saw a wine server at a fancy restaurant my uncle took my family to when I was in first or second grade and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Ha! A wine waitress and I was this little angelic private school kid at the time...

  9. Love your post and blog. You are so right, we don't always disclose EVERYTHING on our blogs. Sometimes we struggle, and don't want the world to know so we put on a happy (blog) front.

We want to have lots of kids too, but it took us almost 9 years to have our first (I guess the Lord had other plans for us). I am praying that more children are in our future.

I live in the DC area, graduated in Psychology, and TERRIFIED of public speaking. My husband served a mission for our church in Las Vegas.

And your bay is just so adorable!!!!

  10. We are so much alike, and yet soooo different as well! hehe

I enjoy bloggers who are authentic and don't JUST blog about clothes or shopping or books or whatever. Don't get me wrong, I love fashion posts and book posts, but the posts I love the best are the ones like this one...the ones when I feel like I've gotten to know a friend a little better. ;0)

    Love ya.
