My husband and I go "walmarting" periodically. We just go around Walmart riding bikes or playing with the toys.. trying on Halloween masks, whatever there is to do!

This week I had to run into Michael's for some things for my chair make-over (pictures to come!). We found these really fun styrofoam hats and masks. He put on this one:
And I, of course, was the pirate:
There were some really fun ones! All kinds of animals and some even had tails you can clip on to your pants. If you have kids, I would suggest going to pick some up and having some fun!

Have a great Tuesday!!

6 years

6 years ago today we said "I do":
Today we celebrate 6 years of marriage and look forward to many many more:
Over the past 6 years we have:

Endured 5 years of the Marine Corps and 1 year of job searching in Las Vegas...
Vacationed to Hawaii, Seattle, Washington DC, Florida, and Las Vegas...
Spent 1.5 years apart from one another (thank you USMC)...Made some wonderful friends...
Witnessed many friends get married...Buried our baby girl...
Talked about our plans for the future...Prayed that our marriage would glorify God in all ways possible.

Sometimes it's tough and sometimes it's fantastic. But it's all so rewarding. The Lord has definitely blessed our marriage and I couldn't be more thankful for the man that I chose to spend my life with.
Happy Anniversary honey!!

bike ride

For Christmas my wonderful husband got me a beach cruiser. I love it!! And periodically he's kind enough to go on bike rides with me. But usually, I just head down to the beach on my own, during the day to read or enjoy the view. Here are some pictures from a recent trip:

{the oceanside pier}
{view from the bench i read on}
{high tide}
{this little guy was just hanging out}
{on the way back i had to ride by the "Top Gun house"!!}

Side note: Top Gun is one of my all-time favorite movies! So it's pretty spectacular that I live only a few blocks away from this house used in the filming of the movie :) Unfortunately I think they are planning to tear it down. I think it should be a Top Gun museum!

my vinyl record collection

When I was just a young tot, my mom bought me this awesome Fisher Price Big Bird record player and gave me some of her 45s from the "old days."

Unfortunately I don't have that record player anymore, but I'm always on a look out for one. I would love to have one for our children one day just so that they know what a record is!

Here is the case where I keep all of my 45 records. I love it:
I wanted to share with you some of my favorite 45s that I grew up with (mostly the Beatles). But I do have quite a collection. I even have several popular fairy tales on record like Hansel and Gretel, Alice in Wonderland, Peter and the Wolf, Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella.
A quick lesson in records: a 45 has 2 sides and generally each side has one song on it. They are also known as 'singles'. They're called 45s because 45 rpm is the speed. Early 45 rpm records had a playing time of 8 minutes (later ones had playing times of 10-15 minutes). There are also records with a standard speed of 70 rpm. (Information from Wikipedia.)

{The Beach Boys: Fun, Fun, Fun.}
(L.C. are my mom's initials from when she was a kid)

why I'm walking

In 14 days I will be participating in the Pregnancy Resource Center's 1st Annual Walk for Life.
I am so excited about this opportunity!

As some of you know, I am so in love with crisis pregnancy centers. I have been volunteering with them for almost 5 years. For a basic understanding of what the PRC does, you can visit their website here.

{My sister-in-law and I walking in the Women's Resource Center's Walk for Life in 2009}

Pregnancy Resource Center offers support and compassion for those facing an unplanned pregnancy. We offer free pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, option counseling, referrals and information, parenting classes and baby items, post-abortion recovery counseling, abstinence eduation, and more.

In simple terms, the PRC offers hope and healing for those who are in need of it. We also share the good news of Jesus Christ.

I am asking that 10 people pledge $20 or that 20 people pledge $10 to support me in the Walk for Life. All of the money you pledge will go directly to keeping the doors of the PRC open so we can serve the people of the Vista, CA community.

To support me and the PRC, visit my page here.

my favorite floral creations

In writing my introduction post about what I like to create, I was inspired to share with you some of my favorite floral creations. These are all from weddings, which I really enjoy doing. I'm also super frugal so I can usually find flowers and put them together for less money then any florist will. Enjoy!!
{In March of 2009, I had the honor of making bouquets for my best friend's wedding. They are simple hand*tied bunches of bright yellow alstroemeria}
{I also made a few boutonnieres for the groom and his groomsman}
{This is my sister-in-law at her wedding rehearsal. I made her practice bouquet from a styrofoam ball, a wooden dowel and wrapping paper from her bridal shower}
{And this is her actual bouquet for the wedding!! This was my first cascade. I made this one from red roses, white stephanothis, white dendrobium orchids, italian ruscus and ivy}
{This is Brittany with all of her girls. Their bouquets are hand*tied white roses with some tree fern. Her maid of honor also has red sweetheart roses in hers}
{Bride and Groom. His boutonniere is a red rose, a white stephanothis and a piece of italian ruscus}

{And this lovely couple is my older brother and his beautiful bride}
{Her bouquet is hand*tied purple lisianthus, white roses, white calla lillies, leather leaf and tree fern}
I currently live in the San Diego area. If you or someone you know would like flowers for any occasion, you can email me at ihaveapinkbag[at]yahoo[dot]com

spring has sprung.. and the cats are enjoying the weather

The weather is just perfect right now. It is currently 61 degrees and sunny. The trees are blooming, and the cats are outside. So I snapped a few shots of the view from our back patio. First, there's Cal, my giant orange fur ball:He runs outside in the morning just to bathe in the warm sun and watch the birds. He usually falls asleep for hours outside. Oh, the life of a cat!!

And our Jasmine is starting to bud; new green leafs are appearing after they had all turned brown during the winter:
And then there's the neighbor kitty (Joey), peaking his head out from under the gate:
And her beautiful yard full of bushes and trees and flowers:
And two of our plants on the balcony:
Yay for green trees, blooming flowers, sun, warm weather and kitties!!

strawberry picking and winner!!

The weather was absolutely perfect yesterday for strawberry picking in Carlsbad, CA. We had so much fun! All you do is buy a bucket, head up to the fields and pick away. Our bucket was more than full... we got a little carried away. And the strawberries we picked were sooo yummy!

{the fields}

{yay for baby strawberries}
{me, with my bucket, picking a good one}

And of course, because I'm a Beatles junkie, I couldn't write this post without singing:
Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about.
Strawberry Fields forever.

And Happy Easter to everyone!!
